According to Pakistani media Samma, after the government approved the export of 150000 tons of sugar, the domestic sugar price in Pakistan has soared to 147.71 rupees per kilogram.

The government department realized that the price increase was too high and requested the Pakistan Sugar Refinery Association (PSMA) to explain the reasons for the sudden price increase and consider delaying the issuance of export quotas previously given to sugar mills if sugar prices continue to rise.

The Pakistan Sugar Export Review Board and Sugar Industry Advisory Board have arranged a meeting to discuss this issue, during which the situation will be reviewed to develop strategies to control price increases.
